|Photograph taken from near by bus stop. I wasn't satisfied by the photo so I decided to but it trouhg digital filtering and beyond to capture the mood of the scenery better. Here are the end result hope you like it.|
OS was OpenSuSE 12.1 (not the newest one, but heck who update if it works?)
Installation went like a breeze as usually with yast2 or zypper just select needed pattern or make custom choses.
Now should I change the display managed...¿ --> naah it should not effect the usability
Everything looks united and as excepted overly animated, looks nice and smooth thou. Also nice default theme in OpenSuse 12.1. long gone are the times when the newest kde and gnome default desktop looked grey and old
How about settings... usuall gnome (my opinion) treating user as an handicapped half brained idiot. So choses are on/off styled and there ain't many.
So can I try out other themes... seems like all I can do is change window style and font but that seems to be it.
w00t I need to install some gnome-user-themes, ok... (why it isn't default depency or something...)
-> Ok Installed ugh but still greyed out with orange exclamation mark -> why it's so, this was almost defautl installation no tricks.
And found this: askubuntu.com/questions/73620/…
It didn't help a bit because it didn't work ugh so it doesn't work even if its installed from default sources (ok this isn't the most newest version 3.4 only)
Maybe it's because I didn't make the gdm the default -> yast system config, init 3 and back to runlevel 5 (so same unified styling here also at the login screen)
But no luck. Well doesnät matter itäs because my previous installations or this is something that's probably tackled in the newer versions.
These over loaded and slow animations start to annoy me, Why I can't see all the time what programs are running, the was three ffplay instances because gnome shell doesnät know how to open video to the old session (no plame there tough, ffplay is no way the default player)
But still I would like to see what is running, I don't like to spend nearöy a second on my productivity to animate all the windows for your eye candy experience, why I just can't simply see what is running all the time.
Also how much resourses this is using compared to the KDE4 Du'h can't enable those shell extension fuckit. yakuake (kde3) still works as it shou... oh can't make it fulll screen damn you gnome shell.
let's see thoe gnome-tweak-tool choises one more time (why the heck this alt+f2) run dialog doesn't have automatic filling, I have to press tab for autocomplition (this is not needed in kde4) heck stupid.
Maybe I should stop here before I burn my temper with this. So I can now compress my opinion about gnome shell to one sentence (unified and animated concept of a modern desktop that user aren't allowed to customize to the fullest experience)
ps: I didn't spell check this
